چکیده

Background Cardiac surgery is looking for new techniques, which are less traumatic with better cosmetic and functional results. The minimally invasive mitral valve in the first procedure is rapidly becoming standard access in several centers around the word. The objective of this report is to show that this new technique can lead to an improved quality of life after surgery and therefore a quicker return to everyday life.

Video-assisted cardiac surgery: results from a pioneer project in Brazil.

OBJECTIVE To demonstrate the possibilities of the use of videothoracoscopy in cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). METHODS Between February 2006 and November 2008, 102 patients underwent consecutively minimally invasive video-assisted cardiac surgery. The cardiac pathologies approached were: mitral valvopathy (n=56), aortic (n=14), interatrial communication (IC) (n=32), six pat...

Right sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.

Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...

Computed tomography angiography for imaging results of neochordal mitral valve repair

INTRODUCTION Degenerative mitral regurgitation is currently the most frequent indication for mitral valve repair. AIM To visualize and assess the mid-term results of mitral valve repair with neochordae implantation, using computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging. MATERIAL AND METHODS The CTA with ECG gating and without modulation was applied in 10 patients to assess the results of a mi...
